FAQ

What do you need from me to quote a mural?

Wall photos, approximate width and height, the city, and a few references for style. If you don’t have dimensions yet, we can still ballpark from photos.

How do you price a mural?

Pricing depends on wall size, design complexity, surface condition and prep, access (height, lifts), timeline, and materials or finish needs. Share photos and rough dimensions for a fast estimate.

Is there a minimum project size?

We have minimums based on travel and setup time. If your wall is small, we’ll suggest options that still look great and make sense for your budget.

What’s the typical timeline from inquiry to paint day?

Most projects move through: scope + photos, design direction, scheduling, then paint days. Smaller murals can move quickly; larger or more detailed murals take longer. We confirm timing before any paint hits the wall.

How long does painting take?

It depends on size, detail, and surface. Many projects land in the 1–3 day range; larger walls or high-detail work can take longer.

How far in advance should I book?

If you have a fixed deadline (opening, event, install window), reach out as early as possible. We’ll let you know the next realistic window and options to meet your timeline.

Can you paint around business hours?

Often, yes. We can schedule early mornings, evenings, or quieter windows when needed—especially for restaurants and offices.

Do you help with design?

Yes. We can work from a concept, brand assets, or a blank “help” and build a direction that fits the space and the budget.

Can you work from my sketch or reference images?

Absolutely. Bring inspiration, sketches, Pinterest boards, or examples you love (and examples you hate). We’ll translate that into a mural that fits your wall and your style.

Do you paint logo murals and lettering?

Yes. We paint logo walls, brand marks, large-scale lettering, and clean typographic layouts for commercial spaces.

Do you match brand colors?

Yes. If you have Pantone or brand specs, share them. We test and adjust so it reads correctly in your actual lighting.

How many design revisions are included?

We’ll align on a direction first, then iterate until the design is approved. Revision count depends on project complexity, but the goal is a clear process without endless loops.

Do you provide a digital mockup?

Yes—most projects include a concept mockup so you can see scale, placement, and overall composition before painting starts.

Can you incorporate existing branding or a specific theme?

Yes. We can incorporate brand elements, school mascots, a nursery theme, local landmarks, or a specific story you want the wall to tell.

What surfaces can you paint on?

Common surfaces include drywall, plaster, brick, stucco, concrete, and sealed wood. We’ll evaluate photos and recommend the right prep and primer for your wall.

Can you paint on textured walls or brick?

Yes. Texture can add time because it affects edges and coverage. We’ll plan for it and set expectations on the final look.

Do you paint outdoors?

Yes. We plan around weather and use exterior-appropriate primers and paints for durability.

What kind of paint do you use?

We use professional-grade paints and primers selected for your surface and location (interior vs exterior). We’ll recommend the best system for longevity and finish.

Do you use low-VOC paint for nurseries and bedrooms?

We can use low-VOC options when appropriate and we’ll talk ventilation and cure time so the room is usable again quickly.

Do you seal the mural?

Sometimes. Sealing depends on location, sun exposure, and whether the wall is high-touch. We’ll recommend the right finish if protection is needed.

How durable is an exterior mural?

Exterior murals can last for years with the right prep, materials, and finish. Sun exposure and weather matter, so we build the paint system for your specific wall.

How do I clean or maintain a mural?

Most interior murals can be dusted or gently wiped with a soft cloth. For higher-touch areas, we’ll recommend a finish and a cleaning approach that won’t damage the paint.

What prep is needed before you arrive?

We typically ask for clear access to the wall and a clear path for ladders or equipment. We’ll send a simple prep checklist based on your space.

Do you patch or repair damaged walls?

Minor patching and smoothing may be possible, but major repairs are usually best handled ahead of time. We’ll flag issues from photos and recommend next steps.

Do you protect floors and furniture?

Yes. We mask and cover nearby areas, protect floors, and keep the work zone clean and contained.

Do you need power or water access?

Often, yes—basic access helps with lighting, tools, and cleanup. If your site has constraints, tell us and we’ll plan accordingly.

Do you use ladders, lifts, or scaffolding?

When needed, yes. Height and access are part of planning and can affect timeline and cost. We prioritize safety and the right equipment for the wall.

Are you insured?

Yes—insurance and safe work practices are part of professional on-site work. If your building requires documentation, let us know.

Do I need a permit for a mural?

Sometimes. Permit requirements vary by city, especially for exterior or highly visible walls. We can share what we’ve seen locally, but you or your property manager should confirm requirements with your city.

Can you paint over an existing mural?

Often, yes. We’ll evaluate adhesion and surface condition, then recommend whether to prime, seal, or remove sections before repainting.

Can a mural be removed or painted over later?

Most murals can be painted over like any painted wall. If future changes are likely, tell us so we can plan materials and prep accordingly.

Do you paint on windows or glass?

Yes—select projects can be painted on glass with the right materials. For many storefronts, vinyl graphics may be a better fit depending on goals and longevity.

Do you paint ceilings?

Yes—ceiling murals are possible. They require extra setup and planning, so we’ll confirm scope and access before scheduling.

Do you do chalkboard or whiteboard style murals?

Sometimes. Specialty finishes need the right surface prep and products. If you want a writable wall, we’ll confirm the best approach for the space.

Do you work in schools or public spaces?

Yes. We coordinate scheduling, access, and safety requirements so the work fits your site’s rules and daily flow.

Can you add anti-graffiti protection?

For some exterior murals, yes. We can discuss protective coatings and what they can and can’t do for your wall.

Can you touch up or repair an existing mural?

Often, yes. If you have photos of the damage and the original materials are known, we can assess whether a touch-up or partial repaint is the best fix.

Can you work with landlords or property managers?

Yes. We can coordinate approvals, access, and scheduling with whoever manages the space.

What areas do you serve?

We’re Berkeley-based and work across the San Francisco Bay Area. If you’re outside the Bay, reach out and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

Do you photograph or film the finished mural?

Yes. We can capture final photos and, for select projects, process shots or time-lapse content.
